Lance Smith of Kentwood Real Estate Nominated
for Denver Business Journal’s
Chief Information Officer of the Year Award

DENVER, CO – April 21, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Lance Smith, Chief Information Officer for Kentwood Real Estate, was recently nominated for the Denver Business Journal’s (DBJ) Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Year award. The DBJ and the Society for Information Management (SIM) hosted the CIO awards luncheon at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver on Thursday, April 14, 2011.

This was the first year that the DBJ and SIM held the CIO awards event to recognize CIOs in the Denver area who, through leadership and innovation, make a significant contribution to their company’s technology advances. Technology continues to be an important part of everyone’s personal and professional lives. It is nearly impossible today to find a business that does not have some reliance on technology, and there are many companies whose entire business model is based on a technology solution.

There are many technology professionals who are working every day behind the scenes to bring it all together successfully. Kentwood Real Estate is among the industry’s leaders in the use of advanced technology.

“I was very pleased to be nominated for CIO of the Year in our category,” said Smith. “Nominees were judged by an expert panel who considered multiple criteria, and the four categories represented were based on company size and total revenue. Being included with such companies as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Kaiser Permanente, the Daniels Fund, Level 3 Communications, The Children’s Hospital, Time Warner Telecom and other leading companies was very exciting. I truly enjoy advancing Kentwood Real Estate’s leading Internet presence in the real estate business and look forward to exciting new developments in this regard as time goes by.”

Smith is the recipient of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World’s Website Quality Certification designation recognizing member company websites that are pursuing “best practices” in website design and Internet communications. Kentwood Real Estate is the Denver area’s oldest member of LeadingRE, a global network encompassing 600 companies with 5,000 offices and 150,000 associates in 35 countries.

Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Nebraska in 2001. He also completed studies at Advanced Network Technologies in Omaha and Microsoft Security Training in Houston. Smith’s professional background includes a position as Network Support Specialist for Cabelas in Lincoln and as the IS Analyst for Cornell Companies in Canon City, Colorado.
