WASHINGTON, DC – March 16, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, U.S. Congressman John Salazar announced that $1,092,065 in federal funding has been allocated for the Montrose Regional Airport and Hopkins Field, Nucla. Of this funding, $1,017,065 is to expand the passenger terminal building at the Montrose Regional Airport. The expansion of the passenger terminal building (phase II) will provide additional space for passenger queuing areas, hold rooms, and central waiting rooms, thereby alleviating congestion during peak travel periods. A separate grant provides $ 75,000 to rehabilitate and re-mark Runway 5/23 on Hopkins Field. Pavement maintenance, including re-marking, on Runway 5/23 (phase I) will extend the useful life of the pavement.

On this funding, Congressman Salazar offered the following statement:

“Airports like Montrose Regional and Hopkins Field are lifelines for families, friends and businesses in rural Colorado. As a pilot myself, I know the importance of growing and maintaining our air service infrastructure. I’m glad to support these efforts and I will continue to support efforts that maintain the safety and efficiency of our transportation system and create jobs.”

On this funding, Lloyd Arnold, Director of Aviation, Montrose, Colorado offered the following statement:

“Montrose County is very pleased to be receiving grants to improve infrastructure at Hopkins Field and Montrose Regional Airport.
