Housing Organizations Receive $400,000 in Grants from the Colorado Association of REALTORS(R) Housing Opportunity Foundation
The Colorado Association of REALTORS(R) Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF) has announced that 80 Colorado non-profit housing organizations who provide affordable housing programs statewide will receive grants totaling $485,124.65. The funds will go to support both programmatic and operating costs.
“During this second grant cycle of 2007 we noticed a significant increase in requests for operating expenses,” said Amy Dorsey, CARHOF President. “A decrease in governmental funding is making it tough for many of these vital organizations to continue to operate, and we are delighted to be able to help fill in the gaps with our grants.”
Some of those agencies receiving grants are the Emergency Family Assistance Association, Warren Village, Senior Support Services, Ignacio Community Church, The Inn Between and the Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program. A complete list of grant recipients is available from CARHOF.
CARHOF has established itself as one of Colorado’s most reliable affordable housing resources. Since 1990 the foundation has helped thousands of Colorado residents through distribution of more than $5.8 million in grants.
“The foundation was created to help make a difference in people’s lives,” said Dorsey. “We hope to be able to continue to make these contributions and increase the number of beneficiaries.”
CARHOF is funded, in part, through voluntary contributions of the interest on Escrow accounts containing the earnest money home buyers submit when purchasing a property. The Foundation also holds annual events to raise money from the real estate industry and the general public.
Individuals can support CARHOF through the Foundation’s 5th Annual Raffle. Purchasers of $100 tickets become eligible to win a new, three-bedroom home built by Sanctuary Homes in Thornton or $200,000 in cash. For more information go to www.CARHOF.org.
