City to Hold Open House for New Utilities Building

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — As the community grows, so does the City of Fort Collins in order to continue offering the World Class services that residents enjoy and expect, which makes for a special sense of place here.

The City is excited to announce the opening of the new Utilities administration building, known as 222 Laporte Ave., located in downtown Fort Collins at the corner of Laporte Avenue and Howes Street. The building will house Utilities Customer Connections and the City’s Sustainability Services Departments. It is a 37,500 square foot, three-story building, built with a budget of $14.4M.

“This new facility is a shining example of the innovation and forward planning of our community,” said Mayor Wade Troxell. “This is a step in the City’s journey to create a downtown municipal campus where employees are able to easily meet, communicate and collaborate. Consolidating our workforce in one area, as much as possible, will create a more efficient and effective government for residents for years to come.”

Residents are invited to join the Mayor and City Manager in celebrating the opening of 222 Laporte from 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 222 Laporte Ave. The event will include an official ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. along with tours of the new facility.

There will be a reception with refreshments following the ribbon cutting where citizens may talk with staff about the new building.

The new City building is a high-performing building that is expected to receive Gold certification under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. It was designed to offer dynamic and productive spaces for staff to work collaborate and carry out the City’s mission while setting new standards for high performance and innovation.
