Coffman Introduces Savings Account Legislation for First-Time Homebuyers

U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) today introduced the First-Time Homebuyer Savings Account Act (H.R. 5575) along with U.S. Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) and U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock (R-VA). The act would amend the federal tax code to create 529-style savings accounts for first time homebuyers.

Ken Buck Supports American Families Who Rely on Affordable Energy

These resolutions express the sense of the House of Representatives that a carbon and oil tax, respectively, would be detrimental to American families and businesses. Colorado Housing Agencies Receive $412,000 to Help Veterans Access Affordable Housing

Colorado Voters Oppose Raising Rates on Consumer Loans, Says Survey

A new survey finds that Colorado voters strongly oppose the idea of raising interest rates on consumer loans. Opposition was widespread among voters across lines of race, party affiliation, and household income, but the intensity of opposition was especially strong among voters of color and those who had served in the military. Overall, 51% of voters said they would be "much more likely" to vote against a legislator who voted to increase interest rates. That number rose to 58% of military service-members or veterans, and 62% of non-whites.

Senate Passes Bennet-Backed Measure Supporting Wind Energy

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today joined his Senate colleagues in support of an amendment to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill that boosts funding for wind energy. The measure adds $15.4 million to the $80 million already included in the bill to bring it on par with the funds appropriated in recent years. $30 million of that total is slated for the National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden.

The Senate today adopted an amendment introduced by U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) to establish more practical mortgage lending processes on a voluntary basis, encourage investments in energy-efficient homebuilding, and help create tens of thousands of construction jobs. The amendment is based on the bipartisan Sensible Accounting to Value Energy (SAVE) Act that they've previously introduced.
