CRAIG, CO – June 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Scott Tipton (R-CO) issued this statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision overturning the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule on existing power plants:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision strikes a blow against the Obama Administration’s regulatory recklessness and further proves what many of us already know, that the EPA has no regard for the impact its overreaching rules have on American families and businesses. Clean air and affordable electricity are not mutually exclusive—we see it done right here in Colorado, in Craig, where blue skies, affordable electricity production and good paying jobs exist together. Unfortunately, the EPA can go back and attempt to rewrite this rule, which has little to no impact on cleaner air overall, as well as force through more just like it without a permanent legislative solution in place. One such solution, the Ratepayer Protection Act of 2015, passed the House last week and would give states the opportunity for judicial review prior to being required to implement onerous federal mandate that could have severe impacts on ratepayers. I’m hopeful this gets through the Senate soon, and we will continue to work in Congress to push back against the Administration’s out-of-control regulation that has devastated Main Streets across the U.S.”
Tipton is in Craig today, where he is holding a town hall meeting as well as a roundtable discussion on energy issues.
