HUD ANNOUNCES HOUSING DISCRIMINATION SETTLEMENT BETWEEN DENVER FAIR HOUSING GROUP AND COLORADO LANDLORDS
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today an agreement resolving allegations that the owners and manager of an apartment complex in Littleton, Colorado, discriminated against families with children and people with disabilities. The voluntary conciliation agreement settles a complaint brought by Denver Metro Fair Housing Center against owners George and Helen Turk, along with their property management company, Katchen & Company, Inc., who were accused of having a ‘no kids’ policy and limiting housing options for persons with disabilities.
HUD CHARGES COLORADO LANDLORDS WITH DISCRIMINATING AGAINST FAMILIES
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced it is charging a group of Colorado landlords with housing discrimination for allegedly relegating families with children to apartments in the rear building of an apartment complex. HUD charged property owners Roger Loecher and Eileen Loecher, and on-site manager Miriam Yehudah, after fair housing testing discovered illegal “steering” was taking place based upon the tenant’s family status. HUD PROVIDES $63 MILLION TO HELP COLORADO RECOVER FROM SEVERE STORMS AND FLOODING
DENVER - December 6, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan today announced nearly $63 million to the State of Colorado to help communities recover from severe storms in September that produced devastating floods and mudslides.
