COLORADO ATTORNEY GENERAL CYNTHIA H. COFFMAN DELIVERS $450,000 IN RESTITUTION TO HOMEOWNERS OVERCHARGED BY...

Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman announced today that her office has sent out checks totaling approximately $450,000 to homeowners who were improperly charged posting and title foreclosure costs by the former foreclosure law firm The Law Office of Michael P. Medved. Homeowners were overcharged by having to pay the law firm’s fees as part of making their mortgage current when they stopped their foreclosure through cure or reinstatement

Gardner Applauds Withdrawal of Onerous Groundwater Rule

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded today the United States Forest Service’s decision to formally withdraw its proposed groundwater directive. The directive, which would have drastically increased federal authority and regulation of groundwater in western states, had elicited concerns from non-partisan groups like the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) and National Water Resources Association (NWRA).

Lt. Gov. Garcia announces $4.8 million in AmeriCorps grants for Colorado

The 18 grants awarded to 15 Colorado organizations will support more than 1,100 AmeriCorps members across the state who will engage in numerous activities including energy and water conservation, increasing literacy rates in children and providing learning opportunities for preschoolers and their families.

The U.S. Senate has adopted an amendment offered by Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner to give the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers authority to manage major construction projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2016 designates the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the construction agent on all VA projects over $100 million

Bennet-Backed Rural Water Bill Passes Senate

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet praised passage of the Grassroots Rural and Small Community Water Systems Act by the Senate. Metro Denver’s luxury home market continues strong with million-dollar closed residential sales in May increasing nine percent over May 2014. Closed luxury condominium sales remained unchanged from last year. There were 97 closed million dollar sales in May, with year-over-year numbers climbing 19.4 percent to 314 sales compared to 263 in 2014. Kentwood Real Estate enjoyed a 17 percent market share with 130 million dollar active listings.
