WASHINGTON, DC - May 14, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Today, U.S. Congressman John Salazar announced that Colorado Housing Inc. in Pagosa Springs has won an award of $90,000 from the Housing Assistance Council to support the building of six self-help, sweat equity homes in Dolores. The funding is part of Housing Assistance Council's HUD-funded Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP), which supports land acquisition or infrastructure development by nonprofit groups such as Colorado Housing Inc. that are operating self-help housing programs.

Low-income households outnumber affordable rental units
April 8, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Among households with the lowest incomes, there are twice as many households as there are affordable rental units in Colorado. According to a report released today by the Department of Local Affairs' Division of Housing, there are 49 rental units affordable to every 100 households that earn $20,000 or less per year. The report assumes that households earning $20,000 can afford a monthly rent payment of $500, or 30 percent of monthly income.

Of this funding, $1,017,065 is to expand the passenger terminal building at the Montrose Regional Airport. The expansion of the passenger terminal building (phase II) will provide additional space for passenger queuing areas, hold rooms, and central waiting rooms, thereby alleviating congestion during peak travel periods. A separate grant provides $ 75,000 to rehabilitate and re-mark Runway 5/23 on Hopkins Field. Pavement maintenance, including re-marking, on Runway 5/23 (phase I) will extend the useful life of the pavement.
